What did director Shankar do to super star Rajni in Sivaji?
Sivaji the Robinhood - An idea for failure Shankar has tried to assert his logic of social awareness thru a one man act - A repeat of all his previous attempts Gentleman - education Indian - corruption Mudhalvan - political corruption Anniyan - social discipline Sivaji - black money
The first four were of a different nature since they tackle a tangible problem. But the last one a block buster with Rajini theorizing economics like Robinhood - steal from the rich and distribute to the poor - albeit as infrastructure instead tackles an age old theory. The only way to help the poor is to steal from the rich.
The movie addresses the parallel black economy in India as the root cause of all poverty problems. That if the rich paid all their dues without hoarding then the poor wouldn't have to suffer. Rajini discusses this as the root cause of all social problems in India and muscles his way thru the economic fabric in delivering to the poor. At the end, Shankar espouses his vision of identity based transactions to keep the money from flowing into the black economy.
The problem that this vision espouses rooted in the origins of money itself. First visualize the fact that money is traded as a piece of paper today. This is exactly what we criticize Muhammad-bin-Thuglak for printing money in leather seals and floating it alongside an existing gold based currency. People started hoarding gold and soon the treasury had piles of leather pieces.
Now imagine the last scene in the movie where the villan and the public run around picking pieces of paper (albeit with a 500 and gandhi picture all over it). For over 10,000 years if this scene were published people would have laughed and thought of the actors and the appreciating audience as idiots - Only donkeys run behind paper, people should run behind GOLD or Silver or diamonds. Better yet they ran behind pepper, cloves and spices and never behind paper or leather. Why? Because that is fiat money - under the power of somebody who can produce more of it than reality.
To explain clearly, if we traded using plastinated mackerel fish as money, then you have a finite amount of money - how much ever you can fish for the day. If I needed more money I would fish more but still have to work for it and even then there is only a finite amount anybody can produce in a period. plastination could extend the life of the money but there is a finite amount. But more the fish, the value of it is not the same anymore. If a bag of rice equals one fish in a 2000 fishes only world, the valuation is definite. But in a 200,000 fish world the value of rice to fish could be 100 times more. This is inflation 101.
If you replaced fish with Gold then this theory gets better light. Gold is finite and hard to produce. Its valuation is clearly determined in every community in the world.
Now imagine paper money - the amount produced is left to the Reserve bank of India (Central bank in other every country) under the thumb of the same corrupt politicians. They can promise the world and deliver the same by printing more money when they dont have what was promised. They used to hold gold in the reserve to print an equal amount in paper but that practice was abolished since the early 60s. They used to hold dollars as reserve to print but since America turned on its printing machines in the recent past, you have started seeing the dollar value against the rupee plumet in the recent past. (You havent seen anything of this yet.)
What use to be around 2000 crores of black money in the Indira gandhi era is now 20 lakh crores. There was not even that much money in circulation in those days. The more you print, the more it gets hoarded.
First of all the folks who hoard paper money are no less a genius than Muhammad-bin-Thuglak. Every time the Govt prints more money their hoard gets devalued. Next folks who think that getting this hoarded money out would solve all problems are barking up the wrong tree. Throwing more money at the poor will never make them rich. I like the idea of opportunity enablement in the movie but ultimately it is the nature of people to hoard. When the middle class does the same, it is called savings. But for the rich it becomes hoarding. Arguments of beyond limits - In a free country who is the government to set these artifical limits on savings. If the rich cannot save in legal means, they decide to hoard and hide. If not in this country then they use Swiss accounts for the same, where they have to pay to hoard.
Bringing in an identity based transaction scheme will only enrich the Visa's and Mastercards of the world. People will find any means to hoard. In fact when paper money was introduced, everybody thought that all the hoarded gold will be useless since nobody would hoard paper !! Imagine that.
The only solution to this and all its related problems are to introduce "Full Reserve Banking" money backed 100% by gold or other commodities. This was the basis of economy over 1000s of years and will eventually be. Every other scheme is bound for failure in one form or the other - You will see the effects of this in the comming Global economic crisis.
Americans are as Unhappy about the status of their currency being the global reserve as you hate it being the super power. Who cares for super power - some rich schmuk. All they want is milk and bread at reasonable prices - just like you.

Being in US I can understand how blackmoney is converted to white thru dollars.What I was unhappy with my great devoted director Shankar did not put message simply as he did with previous movies.I asked my 3rd year Engineering cousin of what message he got for the movie and remember this guy is above average who does very good reviews failed to tell me and understand what is shown in the movie.Stealing from poor and giving to rich is what is understood but beyond that is what I felt my director did not put accross the message that every common Indian (majority of Indians fall into this category - say 70%) understands and does his part to avoid this happening.

Talk of Chicago: 2007 A. R. Rahman concert photos and videos
It was a one time unforgettable experience, we had the second floor rear end ( to the right of stage) corner seats. It could have been a closer view, but I cant complain, Chicago crowd was amazing. I was so excited to hear all Sivaji and rest of the Tamil songs. This is the best performance I have ever seen. Good job with the videos and photos. Hope you enjoyed too. I wonder how Shivaji movie crowd is going to be, will find out this week end at the theaters.
This was definitely a once in a life time opportunity.. The concert was truly amazing. A.R.Rehman is by far the GOD of Music. I am not South Indian so I really did not understand much of the South Indian songs but most of them also have a hindi version and they interchanged between the two. The crowd was going crazy and there was a lot of dancing happening during "Chaiyya Chaiyya"
That was a great show by rahman and his crew. Crowd was terrific. Does anyone know the name of the young singer who danced for mayya mayya.

Its great to know your experience and when appreciating you for sharing your posts through write-ups, images & videos, we were disappointed to see your logo big in that small poor quality videos. Fans who got better videos even, have not tagged their names for viewing pleasure. It is your blog and so videos by you is as well known. And i forgot to mention the videos are repeated in other titles too. I am not able to recap instantly but check in for yourself for all videos and also title it with correct names like for Roobaroo song from Rang De Basanti you quoted Bombay and for Athiradee song (sivaji) your quotes as Vaaji. So kindly check all your videos again & title it with exact song names instead of crowd etc. would be much apprecaited... in order to help:) Chaiya Chaiya/Saregamay/Telugu version of Ulundhu(Mudhalvan)/Roja/Sivaji/Humma1/Roobaru/Dilse/Humma2?/Humma3?/Rahman-Blaaze Intro Speech/Humma4?/Athiradee/Vandemataram... this must be the order of your videos. And kindly do remove any of these 4 Hummas are same to other. Finally suggest let give an option to pop-up to see original size (big images) when clicked this limited size images in your blog. In Chicago they allowed cameras. Even I was not prepared as you can see the quality of videos..I took this from my Cannon s50 digital 'camera' which has MPEG recording capability.What ever camera you take as it was varying light conditions it will be difficult to capture quality videos.I'll wait for that A.R.Rahman concert DVD.. they usually release concert DVDs in few days after the concert.
Until then I just wanted to preserve these video memories of concert and I uploaded to my blog.

That movie is actually a French scenario redirected for Indian audience. "Le diner de con" is very famous in France. I wonder if you feel some details that strike the Indian audience? Are there details that are unconceivable in India?? I'm currently working on cultural differences that's why I ask you that.
My understanding is that all remade movies from other regions/languages into Indian films are given a indian touch either sentiments or culture or traditions.This movie I did not felt any details that are not in line with thinkings in India but I should not generalize for all of India.If I get a chance I'll watch "Le diner de con" with english subtitles if availble and see what is difference in two movies and the charcters.I think probably you shouuld do that on your end to get details on your "cultural differnces" from the movie.

I absolutely agree with you. I also had the same issue with telugutv.net. My case is worst than yours. I subscribed for 6 months at a time and when I try to cancel it they automatically deducted 6 months amount and now they says they can’t refund the amount. I am going to file a case against telugu.net. When I took the new subscription they never mentioned that they are not going to refund the amount.

I have been watching idesitv on WMP. I installed spyware blaster and now I can stream. I uninstalled spyware blaster, reconfigured IE 7 but still can not stream. Any ideas?

Big B with his typical dance steps made the crowd stand on their feet. He sung and delivered the dialogs from his famous numbers from the 70s and 80s. Deewar's temple scene acting was the HIGHLIGHT of the whole show that just reproved himself as the living legend of Indian film industry. Crowd is all of a sudden made to cry with this amazing on stage show put by Big B. Agneepath was another notable one with his god gifted voice announced "yeh dekh aaj raat saath baje aapunka maut ke saath Appointment hai Appointmen".

Abhishek is equally liked by the crowd with his surprise emerging from the crowd and going into the crowd on a pulley driven carriage. Abhishek engaged the crowd than any other performers tonight -- with his "Aunty" and Sparkling "girl" comments. He went off the stage and shook hands with probably the first row $1000 ticket buyers. He is energetic and made crowd dance with him. He appeared many times when Aish was performing. Both on-stage looked like a perfect made for each other couple whose chemistry just baffled the 9K plus crowd.
The dimple pretty Priety looked tired and performed fewer songs compared to Aish. Aish was quick with her costume changes and lightened the stage with her "Chamkii" dresses and bare foot dances. Riteish Deshmukh did a good "Maharashtra" number and seemed tired probably of their tiring Atlantic city concert the day before. Vishal and Shekhar danced in their own world all over the stage entertaining the crowd.
