"Cyber Monday" 2009 is the Monday immediately following Black Friday, i.e. November 30 2009 this year. Cyber Monday is believed to kick off of holiday online shopping season in the United States between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. "Black Friday" is for brick-and-mortar (B&M) stores as "Cyber Monday" is a busy day for online retailers.

The challenge for online retailers is to keep their websites up and running, Kohls and Staples had troubles during Black Friday 2009 to process the transactions because of online buyers rush

Cyber Monday 2008 - December 1 2008 , Hype and details

People usually think Cyber Monday is #1 online shopping day in US but when you see 2007 online consumer spent rankings, Comscore reports that in 2007 - "Green Monday” (Monday, December 10) was the heaviest individual spending day of the season with $881 million in sales, followed by Tuesday, December 11 ($819 million) and Thursday, December 6 ($803 million) “Cyber Monday” (Monday, November 26), which represents the first major spike in online spending activity during the season, ranked as the 9th heaviest day with $733 million."

Good news for online retailers is that "Online Holiday Shopping Season Surpasses $29 Billion in Sales, Up 19 Percent Versus Year Ago"



If you want to avoid the Black Friday crowds then wait until Cyber Monday to ordering the items online instead.
