SA made a clean bowling sweep making India loose 10 wickets for mere 76 runs and finally innings-and-90-run victory. Bhajji feels it is not just pitch which is red caused that paltry first innings score though Indan captain had a differnt view. If pitch is greener then Kumble who won the toss should have opten for bowling rather than batting on a seamers pitch. Dale Steyn who is star in the first innings with five wicket claim believes India didnt have any game strategy once they start losing wickets. Except for Ganguly who put some resistance in 2nd innings, all the paper stars who raked in big money in IPL made India lose the test match.

Third test match preview

The biggies Waseem Jaffer, Dravid, Dhoni & VVS Laxman back to back failures will add trouble in 3nd test match at Kanpur. Only hope is changes made to squad - Ishant and Munaf are called back into the team to stress the importance of bowlers. Kumble injury puts Powar as replacement. Bajji and spinners have to do their extra best to tie the test series. Overall I feel with second test win it is difficult for India to recover from the loss in 3rd test.

Sehwag is the star of first match with blazing triple century knock. He missed the great opportunity of beating Lara's record, he should have been bit patient as it is difficult to amass such runs again. Its great accomplishment for a player who is struggling for form and the man made it to record books with quick 300 off 270 balls. First test that ended in draw demonstrated what a batting pitch scores look like. Dravid joined the premier 10,000 runs club and the 25th test hundred. The credit is also to be given to RSA batsman who frustrated the easily frustrated Sreesanth with back to back boundaries from Smith's bat. Bowlers on two sides struggled to contain both runs and wickets.

Second test match preview

The middle order - Tendulkar, Ganguly & VVS Laxman failing will add trouble in 2nd test match at Ahmedabad. Bajji's five wicket haul is impressive and if he gets support from other bowlers India can be a better bowling side. The worrying factor for India is injured Tendulkar who is going to miss the second test. Kaif will be replacing Tendulkar after almost two years. Kaif who had been performing well in domestic matches is a right selection both in fielding and batting departments. Historically we have seen Sehwag cool down after a big knock like the one at first test match and this is advantageous to RSA.

India the commonwealth 2008 champions plays three tests against South Africa India in March/April of 2008. After IPL biddings some of the test players like Waseem Jafeer for instance who got the lowest bid is naturally unhappy and this I believe will have some cascading effect to all India test players effecting their performance in the test matches. Does team India honing their batting skills from Ravi Shastri (Shastri took 67 balls for his 25 in match against AUS which we lost because of his slow batting times) and Chandu Borde (Who played and knows classic cricket that was played before 1970) ? After a paltry score from Gambhir and Ganguly, Dravid and Tendulkar duo competed with each other for ' who plays slowest ?' contest. Dravid picked up the strike rate in the later part of the game by which already damage has been done to India's run rate. Tendulkar on other end played as slowly as possible irking the viewers and making every one wish Dravid gets the strike. We have lived with critics who aim their shots on everything that Tendulkar does these days, If he gives up wicket early..a big problem..sack him from the team...if he reaches 90..we say he slows down to get his 100.Today's match is a witness of this repetition.Sad that Tendulkar missed his ton by missing his second run to complete his hundred.
With 8 wickets in hand even a way side tea shop guy will tell you that this is not a great batting by the Indians in the slog overs. Slog overs require running between wickets and for that at least Dravid/Tendulkar should have thrown their wicket to get Yuvaraj to bat.Knowing that any one of SA players - AB, Kallis, Gibbs can handle this score single handedly, Dravid's team is able to put just 240 plus runs on score board.

Adding to the India troubles are the virus affected bowlers, Agarkar and Sreesanth who missed the game today. Both of them could have been very handy in these seaming conditions.Only hope was how much turn and bit Piyush and Powar gets from this wicket.AB de Villiers has done well to put pressure on Ganguly who was not a full time bowler as Ganguly have to bowl quite a few overs today.In middle overs India bowling did tightened its grip and gave hopes of close match.Kalli's with his average strike rate of 90+ (1 century and 7 fifties in 17 games this year) destroyed India's hopes. Chawla did a marvelous job, What a way to start the international career ? Three ODIs so far and three wickets in each of them.
Who is to be blamed for this loss ? Rahul Dravid for not changing the bowlers at right time. Though he brought back Zaheer at a strange time and the move paid off straightaway,he gave the ball to young Sharma neglecting Sachin Tendulkar and Sharma bowled a pretty good over as well.
