Canada, Australia benefits US H1-B visa reductions

Obama has touched on a sensitive and valid unemployment issue. Job losses is blamed on immigrants. Serial stream of bad news from Bears n Stearn's to Fannie Mae n Freddie Mac to Lehman brothers is further deteriorating the US job situation.

In the article "The Bitter Taste of Bigotry", it is rightly said that one man's loss in another's gain.

Thousands of engineers and computer scientists arrive in America yearly to fuel high-tech businesses. Silicon Valley is filled with startups founded by immigrants, like Vinod Khosla’s Sun Microsystems and Sergey Brin’s Google. Astonishingly, Congress has actually reduced the number of special H1-B visas given to foreign workers, which allow American companies to import guest workers with highly specialized knowledge. As a result, many of these workers move to countries with more liberal immigration policies, like Canada and Australia. In these cases, America’s loss is another country’s gain.

Canada immigration is made much simpler that within 1 year with sufficient points based on higher education a Canadian PR (permanent Residency) status can be achieved and after three years the immigrant becomes Canadian citizen. Australia has similar system within two years of PR one can become Aussies citizen.

Compare this to PR (Green Card) in US which is now taking eight painful years compounded with H1-B visas reduction and a lottery system to get H1. Citizenship is another five more years. To become an immigrant a total of thirteen years are required so that would be 1/5th of immigrants life (assuming 65 years of stressful life) spent in this cycle.

To sum up - America’s loss is another country’s gain.

Australia team squad India vs Aus 2008 Oct, Nov series

Australian team announced its 15 member squad that will play test matches in India vs Australia 2008 October, November series.

Andrew Symmonds is out of test series ( Good news for fragile test team of India ) . He missed the team meeting and training session for a fishing expedition that irked the selectors and dropped him altogether from the series. The bad boy of cricket needs some break and his recent performances right from IPL Deccan chargers to recent Bangladesh series is a dismal mark in his cricket career. May be the days of his cricket are numbered. Got to see if Shane watson can fill his gap for mighty Kangaaroos.

New faces -- left-arm blowler Doug Bollinger, off-spinner Jason Krejza, leg-spinner Bryce McGain and pacer Peter Siddle.

Here is the 15-member team squad:

Ricky Ponting (captain), Matthew Hayden, Phil Jaques, Michael Clarke (vice-captain), Simon Katich, Shane Watson, Michael Hussey, Doug Bollinger, Stuart Clark, Brad Haddin (Wicketkeeper), Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Jason Krejza, Bryce McGain, Peter Siddle.

Olympics 2008 Basketball schedule match start times

Yao Ming holding the ball on offense against t...Image via WikipediaUS team with star players like Kobe Bryant enters Beijing with splendid welcome by winning their diamond ball Olympic similar match against Aussies whose ace player Bogut did not play in warm up match.

Lisa Leslie & Candace Parker led the US Women's basketball team against Australia's warm up match.Tatiana Shchegoleva and Becky Hammon gets ready to play their part for Russia. China is betting on Yao Ming, Wang Zhizhi and Yi Jianlian for gold medal.

Favorite teams in my opinion are United states, Australia , Russia and China.

Interesting competition awaits and here are the start times for all basketball fans.

1st Final India vs Australia live online at Sydney Commonwealth Bank Series

1st final starts in -

[Loading time count down ...]

India is better team than Sri Lanka in this series but not when compared with Australia. India just won one game against Australia in CB series i.e. 4th Match at Melbourne played on Feb 10, 2008 by 5 wickets. This makes Australia the defacto favorites in the 1st final game that will be played on March 2' 2008 at Sydney. Australia has its own share of batting form problems and only in last match Ponting made a revengeful century probably after he was sold for embrassing $400K in IPL. All other batsman including Gilchrist and Symmonds are out of form and not contributing to the scoreboard. Aussies bowling attack has been marvelous which saved them from all the matches in CB series.

India on the other hand is totally unpredictable both on batting and bowling. Ishanth Sharma was the only consistent bowler who fared well against both Aussies and Sri Lankans in the series. No wonder he was sold double the price of Ponting in IPL. Tendulkar regained his aggressive batting in last match with Sri Lanka. Gambhir is for batting as Ishant is for bowling. He already got couple of centuries in this series and he applies himself to the game with dedication which is missing from the rest of the players. Rohit sharma and Uthappa has to prove themselves to be on Indian squad in upcoming two finals.

If India can bowl well and at least two or three batsman makes some what average score then 1st final winner will be India.

Australia v Sri Lanka at Melbourne 9th Match Commonwealth Bank Series - watching online & info

As India wins the 8th game against Sri Lanka in a two wicket thriller , that makes this next game between Australia and Sri Lanka interesting.
If SriLanka looses the match then India will have some what bright chances of going into the finals.

Advantage for India is that Yuvaraj Singh and Dhoni are in excellent form now and if they get littl;e support from top order and then there is no reason of why India cannot make it to CB series final.

-> Harbhajan racism charge not proven

Three weeks after the controversy erupted, the racism charge against Harbhajan Singh was found to be not proven by Justice John Hansen, hearing the appeal, on Tuesday. Harbhajan was instead charged with a Level 2.8 offence - abuse and insult not amounting to racism - to which he pleaded guilty and was fined 50 per cent of his match fees.

Commonwealth bank series 2007 - Englands trashed Australia in two finals

As we are getting ready for Commonwealth bank series from Feb 02' 2008. This is a good starting point to look at what happened in last year Commonwealth bank series. Its not that Australia wins all the series, Hope the upcoming India, Sri Lanka and Australia series will have such surprises.

The 2007 triangular series is played among Australia, New Zealand and England. Australia lost their home series cup after a span of 15 years to England in Commonwealth bank series 2007.

The finals are unforgettable for England and Collingwood. He is the players of the match for two finals.

For Australia they don't have Andrew Symmonds and Ponting was not in form.

Here are the two finals from youtube

Commonwealth Bank Series Indian team selected

I did not expect Ganguly be left out from the upcoming CB series but the reasoning seems to be fair.

With Ganguly, Dravid too is out for one days.

Dravid's poor performance may be the reason in recently completed Australia in India series.
Ganguly's fielding capabilities are questioned and rather Raina is selected in his place.
Praveen Kumar gets in with his Ranji performance.Piyush Chawla is chosen for spin attack.

Here is the Indian squad :
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla
