India vs Australia live 2nd Final 2008 online at Brisbane - Commonwealth Bank Series

2nd final of CB Series at Brisbane starts in -

[Loading time count down ...]

Sydney crowd thanks the Master Blaster
Tendulkar shoulders batting responsibility in 1st final of CB series.
Critics call him "match looser" & Indian captain makes a post match comment that he is a "records man". In spite of all these the little man shouldered the 1st finals win responsibility when Indian top order is at its worse form. For Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, this is a mission nicely accomplished in his 20 long year cricket career. This win gives mental edge over Aussies in 2nd final. Aussies in my opinion resorted to all tactics to take Tendlya out of the ground even throwing full length balls on his face but he contained his innings. The world champions, Australia is struggling both on bowling and batting fronts that too on their home ground as witnessed in CB series so far.

Both India and Sri Lanka were not able to bank that "out of form" Australia team opportunity so far except that India was able to do it in 1st final. First talk about Aussies bowling, Brett Lee & Johnson are only notable ones with occasional help from Symmonds. As I noted in my previous post after the departure of McGrath and Warne, Aussies are in the process of look out for bowling successors. Batting wise Top order is totally inconsistent with Gilchrist coming off to a ground with heavy crowd cheering and leaving at a blink of eye to pavilion before crowd notices. Hayden & Symmonds throwing their wickets with reckless shots. Ponting searching for his batting form and is meticulously studied by teams for his wicket.

India on the other hand mainly depended on batting of Gautum Gambhir & Dhoni's patience in all of CB series. Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma was performing averagely in all the matches. Uthappa is the one man who needs some domestic cricket before he sets foot on international team again. We have too much of expectations from Yuvi and he did won one crucial match for India. All credit goes to India's bowling new finds Ishant and Praveen Kumar. Pathan except for the 1st final contributed consistently both with his bat and the ball. Haribhajan keeps pressure on Aussies team just by his sheer presence in the team.

Match Start Times :

Haribhajan takes weed and monkey comments revenge with the ball in 1st final CB Series

Sydney and Haribhajan have always controversies to offer , First final at Sydney is no different in this regard. Bhajji took both the wickets of Hayden as well as Symmonds.
Hayden and Symmonds 50 partnership
Hayden and Symmonds saved Australia from shameful score of 24 for 3.
Symmonds and the Haribhajan calling him "Monkey" issue led to bitter fights in Sydney test match. Hayden recently last week talking on radio referred Bhajji as "obnoxious weed" and it resulted in emotional tensions on the ground as witnessed today. When Haribhajan came to bowl there are lots of boos around the ground. Under pressure Bhajji took the well deserved revenge by taking both Hayden as well as Symmonds wicket in 1st final of CB series. Bhajji celebrated the two wickets in "Bhalle Bhalle !" Bhangra style. Yuvi and Bhajji did a short display of boxing skills to Sydney crowd after Hayden got out.

Hayden and Symmonds celebrating Hayden's half century
Hayden and Symmonds celebrating Hayden's half century.
It all started with Dhoni. Interesting decision by Dhoni to give Bhajji the ball when Symmonds and Hayden are on the board. Dhoni had no choice as Pathan was under performing today with his first over costing India 15 runs.

Bhajji suffocated Hayden by not giving him any chance to score runs and Hayden fell for this trap and as natural as for the batsmen to play reckless shots. This is exactly what Bhajji masterminded in taking out Hayden at Syndey 1st Final today. The credit for Hayden's wicket is also to be given to Chawla who took an excellent running catch of Hayden. Overall Hayden played great final innings for Aussies, without Hayden score Aussies would have been in deep trouble.

Haribhajan celebrates wicket
Bhajji celebrates the kickin victory.
Symmonds dismissal that was awesome teaser ball, lot of flight on that ball (probably a bit of turn also) inviting Symmonds into trouble. This dismissal looked like as if Symmonds threw his wicket carelessly. Under pressure it is Bhajji who was not at all bowling good and Symmonds dug his own grave by a careless shot. Bhajji celebrates "Bhalle Bhalle" move.

At the end it is Bhajji in the finals with just two wickets he might have now put pressure on the critics, Australian media, Punter, Symmonds and the Hayden.

Well Done Bhajji !

Cricketers reaction to India Australia Sydney test controversy

In "Second test at Sydney, " characters and game ethics in general is been questioned.

Here is the list of who said what about this growing controversy : I added my juice to the commentary.

Allan Border and Steve Waugh

"Border and Waugh blame cultural misunderstanding" -- blaming whom - team India or Australia ?

This after all Border-Gavaskar trophy and it is interesting that Allan Border, the former Australian captain said to Courier Mail "What we think is just routine banter they take offense at - it is straight-out cultural stuff,"

Steve Waugh Commented that sense of humor in Australia and India are, in his opinion, very different and that when Harbhajan Singh called Andrew Symonds a 'monkey' he may not have meant it as offensively as it was interpreted.

Wasim Akram

"Wasim Akram calls Australians - 'cry Babies' " -- Haa must be the old memories that ball tampering issue of Pak with Aus.

Adding to the fuel Akram reportedly said to Hindustan times "We did not behave like cry babies and drag it to the officials [...] They do it constantly and much more than anyone else. So how they can go out and complain about other teams, I don't know."

Kapil Dev

"Kapil Dev Calls Indian team most gentle cricket team" -- that is the reason I joined ICL

Talks to Hindustan times "It is surprising and unfair. The Indian team is one of the most gentle teams in the world."

Source : Cricinfo

Sachin Tendulkar

"Tendulkar supports Bhaji and his innocence" -- No one talks about my splendid Sydney knock so I support ...

"Harbhajan is innocent and I can assure you on this," the text message from Tendulkar read.

"In this hour of crisis, the board should stand by him. I suggest we play in Perth only if the ban is lifted."

Source : Daily Telegraph

Dickie Bird

"Dickie Bird feels Bucknor should retire" -- oh yeah he beat my 66 tests record and I'm happy now that he gets this..

"When you get to that age... I have said to Steve, 'Don't go on too long, get out while you are still respected'. I think he has gone on too long," told Sky Sports.

Source : Indiatimes

Ricky Ponting

"Ponting feels game played in good spirits" -- Good "Australian Cricket" spirits.

"I think the whole (Test) has been tainted a little bit by some of the events during and then after the game. Otherwise I think this actual game and the first Test in Melbourne, apart from the one issue which everyone knows about right at the moment, was played in very, very good spirits," Ponting told 'Channel Nine'.

Source : DNAIndia

Navjoth Sing Sidhu

"Sidhu hits ICC with the bat ..oops with his words"

Sidhu said: "I think this controversy has assumed a very large proportion.

"India could have ignored the umpiring decisions, which happen every day; India could have ignored the defeat on cricketing ability - that can happen every day; but India cannot ignore the slur of racism heaped on Harbhajan Singh without any concrete evidence.

Source : SkySports

Greg Chappel

"Greg Chappel feels better team won" - Say some thing new Mr. Ex India coach

Chappell said "these were human errors and the third umpire also could make mistake as technology available today is not foolproof."

McGrath

"McGrath supports his team" -- supports Australian team so what ?

"Anil's a great guy and quite reserved so I find it quite surprising that he would come out and say that," McGrath said.

"From an Australian point of view, I know the way the guys play and I have total respect for every guy that pulls on a baggy green. The Australians play it hard and fair," the most successful paceman in Test history said.

Peter Roebuck

"Sack Ponting, says Peter Roebuck" -- Did you say fire Ponting?

Roebuck writes: "Ricky Ponting must be sacked as captain of the Australian cricket team. If Cricket Australia cares a fig for the tattered reputation of our national team in our national sport, it will not for a moment longer tolerate the sort of arrogant and abrasive conduct seen from the captain and his senior players over the past few days. Beyond comparison it was the ugliest performance put up by an Australian side for 20 years. The only surprising part of it is that the Indians have not packed their bags and gone home. There is no justice for them in this country, nor any manners."

Source : NDTV

Gavaskar

"Gavaskar calls Aussies Hypocrites " ..must be a typo...he calls himself a hypocrit.

To Start cricket he says - "Is it only when the Australians give it to somebody that what happens on the field, stays on the field?" Gavaskar fumed. "When they get it, has it got to be reported? It doesn't stay on the field."

Source : DNA INDIA

Malcolm Speed

"ICC head Malcolm Speed supports Bucknor and Bension"

"It's a difficult job made more difficult by technology and improvements in technology. I think we have the best umpires available.

India Australia 2nd test wrong umpiring decisions videos

Who is the man of the match for 2nd test Ind vs Aus - Steve Bucknor.

Let's look at two innings :

Second innings:

Dravid and Ganguly taken down illegally by umpires. Dravid hid his bat nicely under the pad and that did not convince Mr. Bucknor.

Ganguly's dismissal was judged after asking the players ? What ? Yes the Australian player ...This incident is lot lot better than comedy central stand up comedians shows.

First innings:

From 134 for 6 of Australia first innings to whopping 463 all out is made possible with some big umpiring goof-ups

Symonds score of 137 was possible becuase of poor umpiring decisions.

1) Andrew Symonds was caught by Dhoni off Ishant Sharma when on 30 - Bucknor decided he was not out.
2) Symonds again stumped by Dhoni off Kumble.

Ponting was lucky when Dhoni caught him behind the stumps

Rediff Quotes :

"We have asked our team management to lodge a protest to the ICC match referee against the wrong umpiring decisions made today by Steve Bucknor. The wrong decisions made by Bucknor have been commented upon by all cricketers and analysts alike," said BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla.

"I am sure the International Cricket Council will be monitoring the matter in Dubai and take appropriate actions," Shukla said.

"I was very lucky. I was out when I was 30 and given not out," Symonds said.

Questions that were left unanswered :

Can't Symonds just walk off the field when he knows he was out ?
At age of 61, (Steve Bucknor's age) Is umpiring a correct profession ?

Dravid vs Australia -- Will Australia succeed in tearing up this wall ?

Dravid known for single-handedly winnning a test than a ODI though people forget easily that he had a very successful 1999 Cricket World Cup scoring over 450 runs and he was the highest run getter in the 7th world cup. Dravid was involved in two of the largest partnerships in ODIs: a 318-run partnership with Sourav Ganguly, the first pair to combine for a 300-run partnership, and then a 331-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar, which is the present world record.

Dravid's golden phase started in Kolkata 2001, with a supporting act, when he made 180 to supplement VVS Laxman's classic effort of 281 against Australia.

In the recent 2007 series against Pakistan he was dropped of poor form in one days this is only the second time in an 11-year career. He is struggling and he replied to the critics that he has no problem facing the new ball bowlers led by Brett Lee on the bouncy wickets and he will open batting for India if asked.

Australia vs India past "batting" memorable encounters : Cricket Nostalgia

If India need to have any chances to get close to victories for the upcoming Australia vs India series, India needs at least two or three brave knocks off the bat.

Here are few noteworthy twenty20, ODI and test knocks from the past India vs Australia series:

Twenty20 semifinals - Yuvi's brilliant knock

Twenty20 memorable knock by Yuvraj Singh 70 runs off 30 balls in India v Australia Twenty20 T20 semifinals and we know the rest of the story, India beat Pakistan in finals and are crowned Twenty20 champions.

What a day (another day) for Yuvraj Singh , he smashed all of Aussies bowlers over the ground and made them helpless spectators of the game.

Yuvraj -- > 1) Faced 7 balls off B Lee made 12 runs with 1 six. 2) Faced 9 balls off Clark made 27 runs with 2 sixers and 2 fours. 3) Faced 8 balls off A. Symonds made 18 runs with 2 sixers and 2 fours.

See the brilliancy in motion :

Coca-Cola cup finals 1998 - Sachin's cricket show mastery

Who can forget this knock ? 134 runs off 131 ball with three sixers and twelve fours.

Third Test 2003 Melbourne - viru's resistance knock

Viru if he is in form we know he can be so destructive that he alone can stop the mighty Aussies, this is what happened in the 3rd test match when all the batsman failed he singlehandedly saved the day for India.

Sehwag made 195 runs off 233 balls with 25 fours and 5 sixers

To sum up at least three batting knocks are required from Team India to have hope for the upcoming series.
