Mumbai, India attacks in pictures
The brutal attack is now declared complete as Indian commandos cleaned up the operation after 3 days. Reports say Gun men came in boats from Pakistan and did this deadliest act of killing 175 plus people including foreigners who are visiting India.

22 foreigners are known to have died, including victims from Israel, the US, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia, Italy, Singapore, Thailand and France. One Briton, Andreas Liveras, was also killed.
Boston.com has 35 pictures with high resolution and the photos are nicely censored to leave out graphic photos to viewers discretion and an explicit "view" action to view them. I sometimes feel Indian press should follow these measures as not to show all those disturbing graphic images to viewers.

There are so many websites offering the items for lowest prices and beware of some sites that may be scamming consumers with bait and switch tactics. (First a low price is advertised then a sales person calls you to tell add-ons or accessories like batteries of worth $150, Chargers of worth $50 is not included)
Here are tips that I follow to avoid online scam websites.
> First and formeost select the online websites that you know or heard of from your friends - Here is my top five best store list for electronics - BHphotovideo.com, CrtutchField.com, amazon.com, Costco.com, Buydig.com [Source : ComsumerReports.Org]
> First research the "price" of the product from Google's "Google Products Price" (previously Froogle)
Say I'm looking to buy latest Sony Hard Drive SR-12 camcorder then here is what I look from Google's product prices. This way one will have price range for the product that is trusted from good online stores. Be cautious of all pricey add-ons that comes if the product has lowest price in a store.
> If you find a website that is offering a product at fire sale price then make sure you check the website in ResellerRatings.com, BBB.com and if possible do a website domain check for the number of years in business.
ResellerRatings.com is a user submitted ratings websites for 10,000 plus stores. Take for instance - crutchfield.com has rating 9 out of 10.

The first big black Friday for Blu-Ray players. Most anticipated item that this holiday season every one wants to grab one if door buster items are less than $200. Almost al new releases are on hi-Def blu-Ray release. Since the format wars are over with HD-DVD format, the Blu-Ray is clear winner and can play standard DVDs too.
If you want excellent 480p picture quality go for any up converting DVD Players. An HMDI input is required in TV if you are going for these up converting players. If you want true high quality Hi-Def images then go for Blu-Ray players. 1080P HDTVs are best for Blu-Ray. HDMI input is the best for 1080P otherwise currently I have HDTV that can display only 720p via component video input. Blu-Ray comes in three features - Profile 1.0 (old one), less price. Profile 1.1 gives bonus view a picture-in-picture feature for some discs. Profile 2.0 players have BD-Live for accessing online content such as movie trailers.

Black Friday 2008 Hometheater Receivers Onkyo, Yamaha, Sony Deals
This post lists all Black Friday 2008 Home theater & Receivers systems of brands - Onkyo, Yamaha, Sony Deals available from Bestbuy, Circuit city and other electronics retailers.
For better sound experience it has become common practice to add receivers and speakers (Hometheater) to many out put sources like TV , Cable set-top boxes or DVD players. Why do people add-on buy audio systems ? The in-built speakers that come with the video devices are mediocre. Hometheater systems gives multichannel surround sound giving a theater experience.
First to decide if you want 5.1 or a 7.1 surround sound ? Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound consists of two front (movie's sound) and two rear channels (crowd noise and special effects), a center channel(movie dialogs), and a subwoofer (for lowest tones bass instruments or explosions). The 6.1 or 7.1-channel formats include the additional rear speakers.
5.1-channel surround sound is just what we need to get theater-like experience at home. The extra rear-center speaker in a 6.1-channel gives quality sound experience in larger rooms with some addition sound experience. Very less movies are encoded in 6.1-channel sound, and 7.1-channel channels.
Higher priced ones support High Definition sound quality.

As economy is slowing down this year Blackfriday is expected to be low on prices as retailers want to clean up their inventories though we have to wait and see if consumers spend as much as they did last year.

The only rule I follow religiously from the above top 10 list is #9 - Running Your Car Down To Empty, I now know that cars can drive another 60 miles+ after they hit Empty and US cars have the largest “buffer zone” of any vehicles.

USA Immigration Greencard Reform Proposals
Attorney Mike Templo writes in abs-cbn news recaps all the proposals that are still pending with US Senate for approval. This bill as we most of us know is “The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007”. Now that US elections are over we may see some progress in year 2009.
The main proposals of this bill are :
> The Z visa - Eight years illegal immigrants in US can apply for Greencard by paying $2000 fine.
> Point system - The Canadian point system is mimicked to replace current EB1, EB2, EB3 based employment based green card. We know how much painful the current system is that it is taking 11 to 16 years for a computer engineer from India to get greencard for skilled workers.Points are awarded based on the level of education (Graduate or High school), work experience, English language skills, family connections, and job offer. The current perm labor certification process would be eliminated.
> Guest worker program - A two years "Y" visa for illegal workers.

Student passed exams using Wikipedia
Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales from his recent trip to India said these words "met this young man on the street who told me that he had used Wikipedia to pass his 11th grade exams."
Wales says despite the great stories we hear the collaboration efforts like even Wikipedia is in its infancy stage and he believes video collaboration is going to be next big thing. Youtube model of a person sharing individual videos will become obsolete is what I get from that news.

Indian flag probe on moon - Chandrayaan taking readings of moon's atmosphere
India's first unmanned and world's only 4th (Soviet Union, US and Japan sent mission to moon before) such lunar spacecraft Chandrayaan (Chandrayaan is a Indian language Hindi word in English if translated is Moon + Craft = trip to the moon) put a probe with Indian flag on moon's surface reading its measurements. In the course of next two years, Chandrayaan 1 will map a 3D atlas of the Moon and also check for the presence of water-ice with the help of Chandryaan instruments.

To avoid phishing check if email address exists or not
My Hotmail account gets nearly 30 to 50 spam email daily, I've to browse my junk mail folder often to make sure I don't miss any important mail that Hotmail marks it as junk.
This has become a wasteful exercise sucking out time that can be put to some other good use. Most of the junk mail these days are from Paypal, eBay, Bank Of America (my bank) and even Obama election mails - all of course are phishing emails tricking us to steal our identity theft.
Every time I get such spam email I go to Google and search for subject and body of the spam email. Most of the time users post and give good feedback of whether a mail is spam email or not.
Here is another simple way to check for spam email
